Director Jeff Fowler has officially announced the completion of filming for Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Fowler shared a photo from one of the closing scenes of the movie on his Twitter account, indicating that filming for the new animated film has wrapped up. So, we can say that a new Sonic movie is coming!
When Will Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Be Released?
Filming for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 began last July. The filming took place in the UK, where voice recordings for the animated characters were done. The live-action shots, featuring actors like James Marsden and Jim Carrey, commenced in November.
Similar to previous films, the shooting locations for the third installment include studios along with various European cities. According to the director, visual effects and animation work will be carried out in the coming months to bring the Sonic world to life.
In his tweet, Fowler thanked the cast and crew for their efforts. Among the returning stars are Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Marsden as Tom Wachowski, and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic. Tika Sumpter and Colleen O’Shaughnessey are also returning for this film.
However, the voice actor for one of the most significant roles, Shadow the Hedgehog, has yet to be announced. The iconic black hedgehog made an appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Sources suggest that this film will draw inspiration from the Shadow the Hedgehog game, but the actor for the character remains unknown.
Paramount Pictures has set the release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for December 2024. The first trailer is expected to be released in the coming months.
