Apple Vision Pro is rumored to be compatible with Sony PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2) controllers. This expected collaboration between the two tech giants could solidify Vision Pro’s place in the world of games and apps and take the experience to a whole new dimension.
Apple Vision Pro and Sony PSVR 2 support could be on the way
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple Vision Pro and Sony PSVR 2 may soon merge. The move could significantly expand the gaming capabilities of Apple’s mixed reality glasses.
According to the report, Apple and Sony were expected to announce the partnership weeks ago, but the announcement was delayed. As part of the partnership, Apple will reportedly start selling Sony PSVR 2 controllers.
Sony has allegedly been working for months to make its controllers compatible with Vision Pro. In the process, Apple has reached out to third-party developers to tap into the potential of Sony VR controllers.
This partnership could be an opportunity for Vision Pro owners to expand the glasses’ gaming capabilities. Currently, the number of games for visionOS is quite limited, with the exception of games like Thrasher, which can only be played with hand gestures.
Gurman reports that Apple won’t limit Sony’s devices to just games. The controllers can be used to navigate the visionOS interface. This will allow for precise control in apps like Final Cut Pro and Adobe Photoshop.
