Sony firmware updates boost WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6 features

Sony is pushing major firmware updates to two of its flagship audio products: the WF-1000XM5 earbuds and WH-1000XM6 headphones. Firmware 6.0.0 for the WF-1000XM5 and 3.0.0 for the WH-1000XM6 are now available globally, and both releases bring big improvements to Bluetooth functionality, device tracking, and pairing.

One of the biggest changes in these updates is the expanded use of Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio. Both the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6 can now run features like Digital Assistant, Head Tracking, and Find Hub over LE Audio, which should improve connection stability and reduce battery usage.

Garmin beta 15.07 expands Health Status to more smartwatches

Garmin rolls out beta 15.07 to Forerunner 570 and 970 watches, adding Health Status glance and cycling VO2 max support.

Sony has enhanced its Find Hub tool, especially on the WF-1000XM5. Users can now locate the left and right earbuds individually—and even disable tracking without placing them in the charging case. Both products also support Audio Sharing via Fast Pair, as well as Google Gemini Live, a newer addition that integrates AI support directly into the headphones’ interface.

After installing either firmware version, users need to delete and re-pair their headphones or earbuds with their connected device to enable LE Audio-based features. It’s a minor hassle—but a necessary one for the expanded functionality.

With firmware 6.0.0 and 3.0.0, Sony isn’t just patching bugs—it’s actively expanding what these devices can do. Better Bluetooth handling, smarter pairing, and advanced location features make the WF-1000XM5 and WH-1000XM6 even more competitive in a packed market.
