Sony, one of the biggest names in the camera market, has taken a step for those with vision problems this time. Sony is among the most important names in the imaging market with its Alpha series cameras and advanced camera sensors used by many different companies. The company made noise with a surprise solution for people with vision problems.
The DSC-HX99 RNV features a viewfinder that can project images directly onto a person’s retina
The company, which came up with DSC-HX99 RNV, enables people with vision problems to shoot comfortably with this camera. DSC-HX99 RNV actually consists of two different parts. At the center of the model is the DSC-HX99 from 2018 with an 18-megapixel sensor. This compact camera offers 30x zoom with a 24-720mm lens with built-in image stabilization. The DSC-HX99 is combined with a retinal laser projection system exclusive to the DSC-HX99 RNV. This special viewfinder system called “Retissa Neoviewer”, which surrounds the camera is made by QD Laser.
So how does this system work? The system projects the digital image from the camera directly onto the user’s retina. Thus, under “favorable conditions”, it allows people with vision problems to see the environment comfortably through the viewfinder. This allows them to take photos much more comfortably. The DSC-HX99 RNV will enable some people with eye problems such as myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism to enjoy photography more.
Speaking about the DSC-HX99 RNV, Dr. Mitsuru Sugawara, president, and CEO of QD Laser said, “The laser retinal projection of Retissa Neoviewer is a completely new technology that has been put to practical use for the first time in the world,” The DSC-HX99 RNV by Sony has an announced price tag of $600 and is likely to be exclusive to Japan at first.
