SpaceX is revolutionizing the internet!

Elon Musk’s satellite internet company SpaceX drew attention with striking internet speed results. It was announced that the internet provided by Starlink from space can reach high download speeds even in remote parts of the world. It was also a matter of curiosity how much the new internet speed would cost.

Starlink Vice President of Engineering Michael Nicolls shared the speed test results on the social media platform X. According to the screenshot, a download speed of 8102.6 Mbps was recorded on a device located in Jacksonville, Florida. At the same time, the network achieved an upload speed of 2794.7 Mbps and a ping time of 40ms.

These figures apply to the mobile gateway the company is working on. SpaceX currently offers download speeds between 25 and 220 Mbps to residential users. However, as part of the company’s community gateway commercial service, it can set up large receivers to provide fiber-like internet to many remote homes.

The company can offer upload and download speeds of up to 10 Gbps simultaneously on this network. SpaceX is charging an initial fee of $1.25 million for this service and monthly fees starting at $75,000.

“For large commercial companies or community users, the Starlink Gateway terminal will provide over 8Gbps download and soon over 8Gbps upload,” SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said in a screenshot.

While there is no word on what the technology will look like or pricing, it was reported in February that SpaceX was testing sea-based drone ships as gateways for Starlink internet.

The company has deployed more than 6,000 satellites to provide internet from space and is expected to become profitable this year, according to a recent report. Starlink is trying to provide internet from space to more people by exploring methods such as direct communication between satellites and smartphones.
