Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, has attracted attention with a $2 billion investment from SpaceX. This investment further strengthens Musk’s position within his technology empire, having developed the chatbot Grok.
Elon Musk’s AI push is growing
SpaceX’s contribution comes as part of xAI’s recent $5 billion capital raise, led by Morgan Stanley, making it one of the company’s largest external investments to date.
xAI merged with social media platform X in the first quarter of the year, reaching a valuation of $113 billion. Grok, the company’s core product, competes directly with systems like ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI. Grok 4, the latest version of Grok, particularly stood out for outperforming all its competitors in benchmarks.
Elon Musk explained that Grok is not just a chat tool but is also actively used in SpaceX’s Starlink customer service. Grok is also planned to be integrated into Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus. It’s also reported that this AI system will soon be integrated into Tesla cars.
These developments indicate that xAI is becoming increasingly intertwined with Musk’s other companies. This integration is expected to lead to broader use of AI technologies across platforms like Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink, and X.
