Splinter Cell film has been quietly shelved. The film, which promised to feature Tom Hardy as iconic agent Sam Fisher and offer an espionage thriller, succumbed to chronic problems in the production process.

Splinter Cell film, which has been expected for more than ten years, came to the agenda with a news that will upset the players. According to the news in the US press, the project, which will star Tom Hardy in the lead role, was cancelled due to disagreements between the production team about the script and budget.
Accordingly, Sam Fisher’s idea of being adapted to the big screen will be on hold for a while. Basil Iwanyk, the producer of the film, said, ‘It could have been a great film. But we couldn’t reach the point we wanted in terms of script and budget. The fish that got away was big and that’s really sad,’ said Basil Iwanyk, producer of the film.
Although this development is disappointing for a big series like Splinter Cell, it reflects Ubisoft’s efforts to bring the game world to different channels. Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, the animated series announced at Netflix’s Geeked Week 24 event, is still in development.
In addition, the filming of the Watch Dogs film, which was announced about ten years ago, has recently been completed, but an official release date has not yet been announced. Tom Blyth and Sophie Wilde will star in the film.
