Spotify has finally begun offering its long-awaited lossless audio quality to its subscribers. First announced in 2021, this feature is currently available exclusively to Premium subscribers. However, it’s important to note that the service hasn’t yet launched in Turkey.
Spotify is launching lossless audio quality
Spotify is gradually rolling out lossless audio in 50 countries, including the US, UK, Australia, and Germany. Premium subscribers will receive a notification in the app when the service is available and can enable the feature in the media quality settings.
When lossless audio is playing, a special icon will appear in the currently playing track bar. Spotify states that almost all songs on the platform will be available in lossless quality.
Spotify’s lossless audio quality supports 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC files. This is slightly lower than Apple Music’s 24-bit/192 kHz quality. However, by offering this service, Spotify continues to compete with other music streaming platforms. Lossless audio will initially be available on compatible hardware like Sony, Bose, Samsung, and Sennheiser.
If you’re in a region where the feature is available, you can follow these steps to enable lossless audio:
- Open the Spotify app.
- Tap your profile icon.
- Go to Settings.
- Open the Media Quality section.
- Enable the Lossless quality option.
This feature will gradually roll out to over 50 countries until October. What are your thoughts on this? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
