Spotify is opening an office in Turkey! So when?

Ana sayfa / News

A development has shaken the music market. Music giant Spotify, which was previously rumored to be withdrawing from Turkey, has refuted these rumors. The company announced that it will open an office in Turkey in 2026. This office takes both its investments in the Turkish music industry and its relationships with artists to a whole new level.

This news comes after the Competition Authority launched an investigation into Spotify due to inequitable revenue distribution. Various media outlets previously speculated that Spotify might withdraw from the Turkish market.

However, a meeting between Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and Spotify executives today dispelled all the rumors. High-ranking officials such as Spotify Vice President Gustav Gylenhammar and Spotify Turkey Representative Mithat Özbek attended the meeting.

Following the meeting, Minister Ersoy announced the developments on social media. Spotify’s 2026 office in Istanbul will further integrate the company into the Turkish music ecosystem. This office will manage relations between Spotify and Turkish artists and deepen collaborations in this area.

Company officials will also meet with music industry representatives to consider joint initiatives. The new office will also provide specialized support to young talent and female artists. Spotify Turkey will also collaborate with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Spotify previously had an office in Istanbul, but that office closed in 2022. Now, the company is returning to the Turkish market with renewed strength.
