Spotify transitions give playlists a DJ-style upgrade

Ana sayfa / News

Spotify has introduced a new tool for Premium subscribers that makes playlists sound like live DJ sets. The Spotify transitions feature lets users apply automatic fades between songs or design their own mixes using presets such as fade, rise, or blend. You can also adjust EQ, volume, and effects to refine the flow.

To try it, open a playlist and tap “Mix.” The editor shows a waveform with beat data to guide entry points. Spotify also displays each track’s key and BPM so beginners can sync songs more easily.

The update targets users who already spend time crafting playlists. Spotify says listeners have created nearly 9 billion playlists to date. The new feature gives them a way to shape playback into something closer to a DJ performance.

Premium members can save or share their mixes with friends. They can also invite others to collaborate on playlists. If the vibe changes, you can switch the mix off with a tap and return to standard playback.

Nintendo Music 1.3.0 update rolls out with new features

Nintendo Music 1.3.0 update improves playlists, adds post‑subscription tools, and continues weekly soundtrack drops on mobile.

This rollout lands just as Apple Music is testing its own AutoMix tool in iOS 26. Apple claims it can “let you mix like a DJ.” Spotify’s version emphasizes control. Instead of leaving everything to automation, it lets users customize transitions and choose effects.

The transitions feature builds on a string of personalization updates. Spotify has already added playlist editing, genre tweaks for Discover Weekly, track snoozing, and the AI DJ. Now, mixed playlists can carry custom cover art, new stickers, and labels designed for sharing.

Spotify suggests transitions work best with house and techno tracks since they’re already built for seamless blends. But the tool works across genres. The update is rolling out now for most Premium users worldwide, with some APAC markets scheduled to get it later.

Playlists remain central to Spotify’s identity. With transitions, they evolve into something new: a casual DJ set in your pocket. For fans who always wanted to experiment with mixing, the crossfader just became one tap away.
