EA and Respawn Entertainment have announced that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 17th. This is good news for gamers who only own older generation consoles. Previously only available for PC and current-gen consoles, this excellent action-adventure game will now be available to a wider audience.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on September 17th
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the sequel to 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which came out in 2019, and follows Cal Kestis as he faces a new threat with ties to the High Republic era. The game received a four-star review when it launched in April 2023, with the reviewer saying, “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor tells a thematically rich, character-driven Jedi story in one of the most intense 3D Metroidvania games I’ve ever played. It is now the defining example of the single-player Star Wars experience,” I wrote.
When the game was first announced, it was touted as a current-gen console exclusive, and despite performance issues on PC, it was assumed that this wouldn’t change. However, over the last year and a half, EA has released new patches and worked on an old-gen port to improve Survivor’s performance across all platforms. During an EA earnings call last year, it was announced that this port had been approved. The press release stated that the old-gen versions of Survivor cost $50 and included “various optimizations aimed at maximizing the hardware capabilities of consoles.”
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor comes out on September 17th for PS4 and Xbox One. The game is currently available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and is part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate catalog. EA also plans to release a patch in the next few weeks that will improve game performance, controls and more on PC.
This patch will also include various quality of life improvements that will make the game experience more fluid. Players with older generation consoles will finally have the chance to experience this legendary Star Wars adventure.
