The announcement came first during a live Stardew Valley concert and was later echoed on social media. Barone kept it simple: “There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update. No release date, no estimate. But it’s happening.”
That single sentence has been enough to reignite the community’s excitement. While there’s no confirmation on what content the new update will include, the bar is already high, especially after what 1.6 delivered.
1.6 raised expectations for what’s next
Last year’s 1.6 update was packed with new content. It brought in new festivals, a fresh farm type, quality-of-life improvements, and layers of polish that made the already-beloved game feel fresh again. Several follow-up patches added even more tweaks and improvements in the months that followed.
Given that track record, players are already speculating what 1.7 might bring, whether it’s expanded multiplayer features, new crops, buildings, or even story content.

ConcernedApe has made it clear in interviews that he’s not in a rush to move on from Stardew Valley. While his next project, Haunted Chocolatier, is still in the works, he’s openly said it’s “much easier” to keep building on Stardew’s existing systems than to shift gears fully.
He’s also expressed that he doesn’t want to “close the book” on the game, even after nearly a decade of development. The continued updates are proof of that commitment and a reminder that Stardew’s cozy farming world still has room to grow.
