Elon Musk’s latest innovation from SpaceX, the Starlink Mini, is now available to everyone in the United States. This internet kit comes in a much smaller and more power-efficient package compared to previous Starlink kits. Here are the details:
Starlink Mini features and price
The Starlink Mini, as the name suggests, is a small device but with significant functionality. This all-in-one dish, about the size of a laptop, can be powered directly by a 100 W USB-PD power bank. It’s designed for portability, allowing users to have internet access wherever they go. Initially available as an add-on for existing Residential subscribers in the US, the Starlink Mini is now also available for vanlifers and digital nomads who want to stay connected on the move.
The hardware for the Starlink Mini is priced at $599. The service itself offers two main options: Regional and Mini Roam. The Regional service costs $150 per month for unlimited portable data in North America, with the option to pay per GB when using the service on the move. The Mini Roam service is priced at $50 per month but includes a limit of 50 GB of portable or on-the-move data. Additional data usage can also be paid for per GB. Both services can be paused between adventures, so users don’t have to pay when they are not using the service.
The Starlink Mini is a smaller and more portable version of the standard V4 dish, easily set up with its kickstand and approximately the size of a MacBook according to FCC documents. Setup takes just 5 minutes. Elon Musk claims that this device could change the world, offering internet connectivity from almost anywhere without the need for traditional infrastructure.
