Steam, one of the popular gaming platforms used by millions of players today, has stopped supporting older Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 operating systems as of January 1, 2024. So what will happen now?
Steam will no longer support Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 operating systems!
Steam’s change is due to the platform’s core features being dependent on the Google Chrome engine, which no longer works on older Windows versions. In addition, future versions of Steam will only require the security features found in Windows 10 and above.
Windows 7 users should upgrade to Windows 10 or higher as soon as possible to be able to play games on Steam and enjoy the full capabilities of the platform. Microsoft already discontinued security updates for Windows 7 in January 2020.
Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 have become unsafe operating systems. This is because these versions of Windows are not protected against new vulnerabilities and threats. This threatens the security of user computers and Steam accounts.
Therefore, it is very important for users to upgrade to Windows 10 or higher to protect their security and Steam experience. Otherwise, malware that exploits vulnerabilities in their systems may cause serious problems.
