As Steam users, we all buy many games, especially during sale periods, add them to our library and then never even look at them. A team analyzing Steam data for this very event has calculated how much we spend on games we don’t play on Steam.
The money we spend on games we don’t play on Steam is exactly 622.307.000.000 TL
Research conducted by PCGN and SteamIDFinder revealed how much Steam users spend on unplayed games in their libraries. In the research conducted by examining 73 million publicly listed accounts in the SteamIDFinder database, a total of 58,017,026,550 Turkish Liras worth of games have never been played.
When this figure is generalized to all Steam accounts, it is estimated that Steam users around the world spent 622,307,000,000 TL (six hundred and twenty-two billion three hundred and seven million Turkish Liras) for unplayed games. To give you an idea, this is roughly equivalent to the gross domestic product of Nicaragua.
