The US military has come up with a brand new military vehicle in the fight against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The vehicle, called Stryker C-UAS DE, was recently successfully tested. Its most striking feature is that it is equipped with a powerful 26 kW laser system. This laser can neutralize enemy drones and each shot costs only 3 dollars.

The Stryker, by the way, doesn’t just use lasers. It is also equipped with a 30 mm cannon, a precision missile system and other advanced technologies for threat detection. In other words, it provides a full 360-degree protection against both airborne and ground-based threats.
Another important point is that this system is very economical. The missiles used to shoot down drones in traditional air defense systems are extremely expensive. However, Stryker’s laser system costs only 3 dollars for each shot. This significantly reduces defense costs and offers a more sustainable solution.
Stryker is fully integrated with the US military’s Forward Area Air Defense Command and Control (FAAD C2) network. In other words, this vehicle can seamlessly communicate with other air defense systems and provide a coordinated defense.
