Surprise decision from OpenAI: GPT-5 never coming?

Ana sayfa / News

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced today that they will not launch the GPT-5 model in 2024. Stating that they are focusing on a new model called “GPT-o1” instead, Altman said that the company prefers to follow a more cautious and methodical path in the field of artificial intelligence. So what’s in store for the new model?

The GPT-o1 model was a very important project, originally dubbed “Project Strawberry”. According to Altman, GPT-o1 will offer a more robust AI experience, especially in math, science and other fields that require high accuracy. In fact, this new approach will emphasize reliability and consistency over speed.

Altman also clearly explained the rationale behind their decision to go GPT-o1. AI models are becoming increasingly complex. This makes it increasingly difficult to run many projects in parallel. At this point, OpenAI plans to increase efficiency by focusing its resources on specific areas.

Their future plans are exciting. According to Altman’s statements, OpenAI says that AI will be able to act as an “agent” in the future. In line with this vision, they want to develop an AI model that can automatically respond to users’ requests and make autonomous decisions. For example, an AI will be able to not only provide information but also take on more complex tasks on behalf of the user. In other words, it will take on more roles in everyday life.

Meanwhile, OpenAI said that in the future they are also considering removing barriers that limit users’ access to adult content (NSFW) experiences. The company plans to create a more flexible structure for such features to reach a wider user base. Of course, there are technological and ethical challenges to the controlled delivery of such content. What do you think? You can write your opinions in the comments section below.
