Surprise: Ubisoft Blames Players for a Game’s Poor Sales!

Ana sayfa / News

One of the world’s most famous game companies, Ubisoft, seems to be holding onto only the Assassin’s Creed franchise in recent years. After a series of games failed to achieve significant success, it appears that Ubisoft executives are unsure where to place the blame. The company’s CEO, Yves Guillemot, blamed the poor sales of Star Wars Outlaws on the players.

In a recent investor call, Yves Guillemot acknowledged that the company’s latest Star Wars game fell short of expectations. However, instead of taking responsibility, he surprisingly blamed the high expectations of players. According to Guillemot, today’s players have such high standards that simply releasing a “quality” game is no longer enough.

He said, “In today’s challenging market and a time when players expect extraordinary experiences, delivering just solid quality is not sufficient,” emphasizing that these expectations have significantly impacted the game’s sales performance.

EA has announced the final game of the Star Wars Jedi series

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the final game of the Star Wars Jedi series. The series' companion installment will be legendary.

Star Wars Outlaws faced criticism from players even before its release, which negatively affected its sales.

In response to this failure, Ubisoft also decided to delay the highly anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Guillemot stated that, based on the lessons learned from Star Wars Outlaws, Shadows would require more time and polish to meet player expectations. He emphasized that Ubisoft is aiming for perfection with this game and that it must be flawless in every aspect.
