As Microsoft continues to roll out the latest version of Windows 11, 24H2, it is encountering obstacles on the upgrade path for some users. Despite the January 17 general availability, the company is still working to resolve various compatibility issues.
Microsoft continues to fine-tune Windows 11 24H2
Some of the AI-powered features introduced in Windows 11 24H2, such as Recall and Make with Click, remain exclusive to Windows Insiders for now. Microsoft did not provide a timeline for the wider rollout of these tools.
On the other hand, Microsoft also acknowledged several issues that prevented some PCs from automatically upgrading to version 24H2. These include automatic HDR issues, audio bugs, game crashes, and blue screens on certain devices.
Despite these issues, Microsoft has said it will not forcibly upgrade devices that receive an upgrade error. The company said these systems will not receive version 24H2 until these issues are fully resolved. Users who are eligible for the upgrade will receive automatic updates.
Users with computers that are not officially supported have the option to manually install version 24H2 following instructions provided by Microsoft. However, this method carries some risks, requiring data backups and a step-by-step process. Unsupported hardware may encounter additional bugs or compatibility issues, Microsoft said.
