Rumors have already started to multiply for Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo’s handheld console, which is expected to launch this year. According to an analyst, the screen size of Switch 2 has also become clear.
According to the analyst, Switch 2 will have an 8-inch screen
According to Bloomberg, Japan-based Omida analyst Hiroshi Hayase claims that the Switch two, which is expected to arrive this year, will double in screen size.
Hayase is an analyst who focuses on small and medium-sized displays and makes annual forecasts for shipments of these displays based on consultations with companies in the supply chain. Hayase is therefore in a position to comment on the display market, which gives his claim a bit more credibility.
If the 8-inch display claim proves to be true, it would mean that the Switch’s successor will have Nintendo’s largest screen ever. The standard Switch has a 6.2-inch LCD screen, while the Switch OLED has a 7-inch OLED display. The smallest screen in the Switch lineup is the Switch Lite at 5.5 inches.
Although the company has not yet made a public announcement, the device is likely to be released this year. Last summer, it was also reported that development kits for Switch 2 were delivered to important partner studios. At the time, a ‘reliable’ source interviewed by VGC said that the Switch 2 would be larger in size due to the higher quality of the games and the larger hardware required for this.
The source also said that this increase in size would be reflected on the screen, and that the screen technology would be OLED or LCD. The price rumor circulating for the new console is 400 dollars (12,121 TL with the current exchange rate).
In terms of game pricing, it is thought that the company will be based on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S pricing. What do you think about these claims about Switch 2? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us.
