Telegram will no longer be used for official business in Ukraine

Ana sayfa / News

The Russia-Ukraine war, which broke out in 2014, entered a new and more violent phase on February 24, 2022, when Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a “special military operation” against Ukraine. Since then, the conflict has continued unabated, and the war continues to be shaped by strategic moves from both sides. Finally, Ukraine has imposed restrictions on the popular instant messaging app Telegram. Here are the details…

According to a report by Reuters, the Ukrainian government has decided to impose a partial ban on the use of the Telegram app, developed by the company founded by Russian-born Pavel Durov. The ban does not apply to all citizens, but only to devices used by state officials, military personnel and civil servants performing critical duties.

The ban was imposed in response to a report submitted by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and the head of the GUR Military Intelligence Agency, Kyrylo Budanov, which contained evidence of Russian espionage via Telegram.

On the other hand, according to a recent report , Telegram CEO Pavel Durov was arrested at Le Bourget Airport in Paris. Although the reason for this was not disclosed, it is alleged that the application is involved in criminal activities such as drug trafficking and child abuse. The application offers end-to-end encrypted messaging and temporary message services. This makes it difficult for authorities to track illegal communications.
