When Tesla Cybertruck was introduced in 2019, its design managed to capture everyone’s attention. This electric pickup, with its seemingly extraterrestrial appearance and angular design elements, brought a breath of fresh air to the automotive world. So, how did this eye-catching design come about?
Design studies for Tesla Cybertruck have been revealed
After a long wait, as the first Tesla Cybertruck is hitting the production line, earlier design studies of the electric vehicle have also been revealed. Walter Isaacson, who wrote a biography of Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, shared the vehicle’s previous design studies on his Twitter account.
In the image shared by Walter Isaacson, we can see Elon Musk and the brand’s chief designer Franz von Holzhausen looking at the Tesla Cybertruck’s design studies. This shared image also brings along many details about the electric pickup.
Upon examining the details of the shared image, it’s evident that Cybertruck was inspired by Robocop, Delorean DMC-12, and Cyberpunk 2077 during its design process. Considering the sources of inspiration for the electric vehicle, we can understand why Cybertruck looks so distinct.
When looking at the left side of the photograph, we can observe the design studies made for Cybertruck. This section displays several preliminary design works. The presence of different designs in these studies indicates that the vehicle could have looked much different than the current Cybertruck.
It’s fair to say that some of the designs are quite successful. When comparing them to the current model, some design studies appeal more with their curvier surfaces. However, it’s essential to consider that the design of the vehicle, which has an all-stainless-steel body, may have had some limitations.
The successful design studies of Cybertruck will likely divide car enthusiasts. So, which design study do you think would have been more suitable for Tesla Cybertruck? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section.
