BYD, which has made a great impression with its recent electric and hybrid cars, has now unveiled its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) pickup model. BYD Shark, which was introduced within the scope of the launch held in Mexico, seems to make a sound with both its price and engine. Here are BYD Shark features and price.
BYD Shark features and price
The Shark is BYD’s first pickup truck. Measuring 5.4 meters long, 1.9 meters wide and 1.9 meters high, it has a slightly larger chassis than the Ford Ranger.
The Shark is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine backed by dual electric motors, one on each axle. The front engine produces 170kW and 310Nm of torque, while the rear engine produces 150kW and 340Nm of torque. Powered by 430 horsepower, the PHEV pickup truck can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.
BYD also stated that it offers a range of 100 km for fully electric driving. Using BYD’s Blade battery technology, the Shark incorporates battery cells directly into the chassis structure. Inside the pickup, there is a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel.
The most striking point of Shark, which will compete with models such as Tesla Cybertruck, Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux, is its price. It was stated that the vehicle, which has two versions as GL and GS, will be on sale starting from 58 thousand dollars. In the first phase, it will only be available in Mexico.
Shark also has road assistance support. In this context, it includes a panoramic vision camera system and a 180-degree chassis camera.
