During the company’s 2023 second-quarter earnings call, Tesla announced that final certification and validation processes are ongoing, and they are accelerating their efforts for the Cybertruck. Officials stated, “We are progressing towards starting initial production this year at Gigafactory Texas.”
The Tesla Cybertruck will be available in three different versions. The company revealed that it has decided to postpone the production of the entry-level single-motor, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) model. It’s worth noting that the number of pre-orders for the Tesla Cybertruck model is approximately 1.5 million.
The Cybertruck promises to offer “a driving experience better than a sports car and more performance than a traditional truck.” When it was unveiled in November 2019, the base price for the entry-level single-motor Cybertruck was promised to be $39,900.
The three-motor version of the Cybertruck will have a range of over 800 kilometers and will be able to reach 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds.
The most significant development in the Cybertruck model will be in its electronic components. The Full Self Driving software is currently being developed on the hardware known as “Hardware 3” by Tesla. The 4th version of this software, which started development last year, will be released alongside the Cybertruck.
