Tesla has announced a recall to update the software of about 1.2 million vehicles, representing about half of the fleet sold in China. The famous electronic car manufacturer has announced the cause of the safety bug affecting a large number of vehicles.
Tesla explains the cause of the safety flaw
The company said the purpose of the recall was to fix problems with the electric power steering system and reversing cameras that could jeopardize driver safety. The State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) said the steering failure was caused by a software issue that could lead to the steering assist system failing.
The update will be carried out over-the-air (OTA) on 871,087 locally produced Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. Another 335,716 vehicles, including imported models such as the Model S and Model X, will receive fixes for their reversing cameras.
Homeowners who are unable to perform the upgrade remotely will be contacted for a free replacement. Let’s remind you that this recall follows a similar warning in the United States affecting around 240,000 vehicles.
Tesla continues to be a brand that sets the bar in the electric SUV segment with the Model Y series. The new Model Y attracts attention with many innovations from exterior design to interior details.
On the other hand, Xiaomi recently announced that it is recalling 30,931 SU7 electric sedans due to a software issue with the smart parking feature, according to a statement from SAMR. These recalls reflect the growing interest of authorities and manufacturers in ensuring the safety of electric vehicles on the market.
