Tesla recently introduced its most affordable Model Y option, making waves in the automotive market’s electrification trend. The change was noticeable on the manufacturer’s US website, revealing the specifications of the budget-friendly Model Y. So, what does the affordable Tesla Model Y offer?
What does the affordable Tesla Model Y offer?
Tesla discontinued the standard rear-wheel-drive and single-motor Model Y with a price tag of $47,740 and replaced it with a more budget-friendly option. Priced at $43,990, the new version, although featuring lower specifications compared to the discontinued model, stands out as the most affordable option to date.
The new model continues to be rear-wheel-drive and single-motor. It’s worth noting a slight decrease in range compared to the previous option. While the old model had a range of 449 km, the new model offers a range around 418 km. The reason behind this is Tesla’s use of a budget-friendly battery in the car.
Following the introduction of the budget-friendly Model Y, there are changes in the standard option’s 0-100 acceleration. While the old model could reach this speed in 5 seconds, the new one takes 6.6 seconds to achieve similar levels. Apart from this, there are no changes in design or other aspects. Finally, it’s mentioned that, with tax credits in the country, the price of the new option could go down to $36,490.
