After venturing into the automotive and energy sectors, Tesla has now entered the restaurant world. The company’s first restaurant, the Tesla Diner, has opened in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles. The facility operates not only as a food court but also as a high-capacity Supercharger station. Its retro-futuristic design stands out, offering both vehicle charging and a dining experience.
Tesla Opens Its First Restaurant
During the restaurant’s opening, Elon Musk hinted at the potential for widespread expansion. If successful, Tesla Diners are expected to be established both in the United States and internationally, particularly on long-haul routes. This marks Tesla’s presence in the energy, robotics, and now retail food service sectors, in addition to auto manufacturing.
The Tesla Diner isn’t exclusive to Tesla owners; it offers certain privileges to Tesla drivers. Drivers can order from within the vehicle via the Tesla Diner app. Other customers order from kiosks located within the area.
The restaurant features open-air cinema screenings on a 20-meter LED screen. The content shown includes classic science fiction films and SpaceX rocket launches. During the screening, the Tesla vehicles’ speaker systems synchronize with the movie screen. A ticket is not required to watch the movie, but the vehicle must be charged or a meal must be purchased from the restaurant.
The two-story facility features more than 250 dining seats. Eighty fourth-generation Supercharger stations are also integrated into the facility. According to Tesla, this makes the facility the world’s largest urban Supercharger.
It was announced that the facility will reduce carbon emissions by approximately 12 million kilograms annually. The charging stations are available not only to Tesla vehicles but also to other compatible electric vehicles.
The restaurant is open 24/7. The menu features Tesla-licensed products. One notable item is the popcorn served by Optimus robots, a humanoid robot developed by Tesla and actively working within the restaurant.
The venue is positioned not only as a space where dining and vehicle charging functions are integrated, but also as a physical reflection of the brand’s technological vision.
