Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently showed the latest version of the humanoid robot Optimus in a video he shared on Twitter. The robot, also known as Tesla Optimus Gen 2, seems to have improved a lot since the launch, despite walking slowly.
This is how the humanoid robot Tesla Optimus walks
The 12-second video shows Optimus walking through a factory, believed to be a Tesla facility. Previously, the robot’s movements looked quite stiff and “robotic”. Optimus in the new video walks much more naturally, resembling a human.
Optimus Gen 2 is much more capable compared to the previous generation. Especially with the improved sensors it houses, its movements seem smoother and more precise. The company even claims that the new version can walk 30 percent faster than its predecessor.
The video shared by Musk revealed the improvement in Optimus’ coordination and balance. The humanoid robot is expected to take on both dangerous and repetitive tasks and replace workers in this way. Optimus is also expected to be able to work autonomously.
Optimus Gen 2 has faster hand and finger movements than its predecessor. In addition, the haptic sense feature works on all fingers.
The video released by Musk shows that Optimus has made progress but still has a long way to go. It should be noted that there is no information about the release date and price of Optimus Gen 2.
