One of the most frustrating situations on highways is getting stuck behind a slow-moving truck. Especially on inclines, trucks and semis often have to crawl at a snail’s pace, leading to significant traffic congestion when they try to pass one another. However, this doesn’t seem to apply to Tesla’s electric truck, the Semi.

The uphill performance of Tesla’s electric truck was astonishing

A Twitter user named Zanegler shared a video of a Tesla Semi encountered on the road, effortlessly leaving other diesel-powered trucks and semis behind.

It’s mentioned that Tesla thoroughly tests its electric vehicles on this route, fully loaded. The video was shot on Donner Pass, where the incline ranges from 7% to 16%, showcasing the superior performance of the Tesla Semi.

The electric motors powering the Tesla Semi are the key to its impressive performance even on inclines. Thanks to the high torque level of electric motors, Tesla’s electric trucks can navigate hills much more smoothly than their diesel counterparts.

Equipped with three electric motors, the Tesla Semi can reach speeds of approximately 100 km/h (62 mph) in about 20 seconds, even when fully loaded. It’s worth noting that the Tesla Semi has a total weight of 37,195 kg when fully loaded.
