Tesla Sues EVject Over Overheating Concerns with Charging Accessories

Ana sayfa / News

Tesla has filed a lawsuit against EVject, a popular third-party charging accessory manufacturer. Tesla alleges that EVject’s charging connectors present serious safety risks and have damaged Tesla’s brand image.

Tesla, known for its extensive electric vehicle charging network in North America, has raised concerns about some of its supercharging stations located in remote areas, which could pose safety issues, especially at night. In response, EVject developed a device that allows Tesla users to disconnect the charging cable from their vehicles without leaving the car, aiming to address these safety concerns.

This accessory is particularly popular among female drivers and younger users for its safety features, such as protecting the charging port and supercharging plug in emergencies. However, Tesla claims that EVject’s products are prone to overheating and are therefore unsafe.

Updated Tesla Model Y Spy Photos Leaked!

The refreshed Tesla Model Y has been revealed for the first time. The updated exterior design and luxurious interior details have surfaced.

In its lawsuit filed with the Northern District of California Federal Court, Tesla stated, “If the connector overheats, the lack of overheating protection poses a significant safety risk. Tests have shown that at a current of 420 amps, the connector’s surface temperature can reach 100 degrees Celsius after 30 minutes of charging.”

Tesla further noted that users could face burn risks if they touch or hold the connector during overheating. Additionally, high temperatures could increase the risk of fire, potentially igniting combustible materials in the charging cables, vehicles, and other charging infrastructure.
