Tesla’s radical solution to the parking problem!

Ana sayfa / Electric Vehicles

Tesla is using on-board sensors to solve the parking problem. In the latest software update distributed by the company, a feature was introduced to help drivers with parking maneuvers. This allows drivers to get a bird’s eye view of the area where they are parked.

Called “high-quality parking assistant” by Tesla, the feature represents a new technology in parking. It replaces the previous 2D display with a 3D model that shows the vehicle’s surroundings. It uses data from the vehicle’s surround-view cameras.

Other automakers generally prefer fixed camera-based overhead views for their parking assistants. Tesla’s system dynamically estimates object shapes and distances. This allows the lines positioned for parallel and perpendicular parking to be clearly visible.

Goodbye to gasoline? Hydrogen motorcycle from Kawasaki

Kawasaki unveils its first hydrogen-fueled motorcycle concept. Will it succeed in becoming a hybrid and electric alternative?

This feature is currently rolling out for many Tesla models. According to a statement from the company, it is currently available for the Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X, which do not have ultrasonic sensors. It’s part of the “Tesla Vision” approach, which relies solely on camera vision without radar or sonar.

It’s worth noting that it doesn’t offer a full top-down camera view. But Tesla thinks the 3D reconstruction of the area during parking will help drivers, especially in tight spaces.

The technology is expected to come to older models equipped with ultrasonic sensors via a software update in the future. However, we should underline that no timeline is given in this context.
