Apple has announced the Apple iPhone Pocket, a new accessory developed in collaboration with renowned design house ISSEY MIYAKE. This accessory is designed as a stylish way to carry and wear your iPhone.
Apple iPhone Pocket and ISSEY MIYAKE Collaboration
The iPhone Pocket, unveiled today, is inspired by the concept of “a piece of fabric.” Featuring a single-piece 3D knit structure, it’s designed to accommodate not only your iPhone but also any pocketable item. It will be available at select Apple Stores starting November 14th.
The iPhone Pocket features a ribbed, open structure reminiscent of ISSEY MIYAKE’s iconic pleated design. Its simple design completely encases your iPhone while expanding to accommodate other everyday items. The flexible fabric also allows users to quickly glance at the iPhone screen. The accessory can be worn in a variety of ways: in the hand, attached to a bag, or worn directly on the body.
The accessory comes in a fun color palette. The short-strap design is available in eight colors (lemon, tangerine, purple, pink, peacock, sapphire, cinnamon, and black). The long-strap design is available in three colors (sapphire, cinnamon, and black). Prices start at $149.95 for the short strap and $229.95 for the long strap.
Yoshiyuki Miyamae, director of MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO, stated that the design expresses the bond between the iPhone and its user. Molly Anderson, Apple’s Vice President of Industrial Design, said that Apple and ISSEY MIYAKE share a design approach that celebrates craftsmanship, simplicity, and joy.
