Atari continues to renew its 1980s consoles and bring them to the shelves. In this context, the new console called Atari 7800 Plus was introduced. The refurbished version of the console, which was first introduced in 1986, returns with hundreds of games.
Atari 7800 Plus will be released for 130 dollars
The Atari 7800 Plus will be released this winter. According to Atari, it will be available for pre-order starting at $130. The 7800 Plus will be sold as a much scaled down version of the first console with an HDMI port.
Players will be able to play Atari 2600 and 7800 cartridge collections in widescreen format. Players will also be able to play in 4:3 aspect ratio. In addition, Atari unveiled new wireless arms for both the 7800 Plus and 2600 Plus.
The price of the arms offered as CX40 Plus joystick and CX78 Plus gamepad is set at 35 dollars. These arms, which are identical in design to the original version, can be connected to a PC via USB.
The company also announced new games specially designed for the 7800 Plus and 2600 Plus. Each retro-inspired game will come on its own cartridge with a printed manual and will be sold individually for $30. The games include Caverns of Mars, The Epyx Game Collection, The M Network Collection and RealSports Collection.
Although most users have the chance to experience Atari with emulators, it is possible to play old games in a much more optimized way with the new console. It is uncertain whether this console, which makes Atari’s 8-bit era accessible, will come to our country.
