Xiaomi’s new flagship model, Xiaomi 16, is claimed to have a larger screen and a thinner design compared to previous generations. According to the latest information, the standard model of Xiaomi 16 will abandon the 6.36-inch screen used in Xiaomi 13, 14 and 15 and switch to a screen between 6.5 and 6.67 inches.
Xiaomi 16 may stand out with its design
Models such as Redmi Turbo 4 Pro and Redmi K80 Ultra, which are expected to come out with similar screen sizes, also show that this change will not be limited to Xiaomi 16. The company’s abandonment of compact design and turning to larger-screened and thinner devices has been an important development in terms of shaping the competition in the sector.
Models with thin designs such as the Galaxy S25 Edge, which is planned to be released, and similar studies by Chinese manufacturers may have been effective in Xiaomi’s decision. In order not to compromise on battery capacity while thinning the device, the screen size will need to be increased significantly.
At the same time, the increased surface area of the phone makes it possible to integrate a more advanced telephoto camera. While the current base model has a 2.6x (60 mm) telephoto camera, it is suggested that the new design will offer a more powerful optical zoom.
This change is seen as a positive development for users who prefer wide-screen and thin phones, but it may be disappointing for those who are still sticking to compact phones. So what do you think about this? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
