Microsoft continues to increase its investments in the artificial intelligence sector. The company has been working with OpenAI in this field for a long time. However, new claims have revealed a new artificial intelligence language model of unprecedented size.
Microsoft MAI-1 artificial intelligence model leaked
The model, called MAI-1, has been tested within the company for some time. It is controlled by Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind, which Microsoft brought in earlier this year to head its artificial intelligence division.
The information that has emerged so far has revealed that MAI-1 will have about 500 billion parameters. This means it will surpass Microsoft’s previous models. In terms of sophistication, it will be on the scale of Google and OpenAI.
The MAI-1 model could pioneer Microsoft’s next generation of powerful AI assistants and services. Currently, services like Copilot use the GPT model developed by OpenAI. But an in-house model could reduce dependency on different platforms.
This project also represents Microsoft’s largest AI investment to date. We think it will depend on how well applications perform for MAI-1.
On the other hand, Microsoft will hold its Build developer conference later this month. It may present the first details about the MAI-1 project at this conference. Although the model does not reflect the company’s previous work, it could be an important competitor to Google and OpenAI.
