The smartphone industry is perhaps the fiercest competition in the world of technology. With an estimated 3.5 billion smartphone users, the sector’s volume is approaching 1 trillion dollars. As such, manufacturers are competing with each other for a share of the pie.
iPhone 14 Pro Max was the best-selling smartphone
Omdia has published a report on the state of the smartphone world in the first half of 2023. In the list of the best-selling phones, Apple’s obvious superiority stands out. Accordingly, the iPhone 14 Pro Max took the lead by selling 26.5 million units.
In second and third place are models from the same series. In second place is the iPhone 14 Pro with 21 million units and in third place is the iPhone 14, the standard model of the series, with 16.5 million units. The iPhone 13, which was in Apple’s previous series, followed.
Apple products are followed by the Samsung Galaxy A14 in fifth place with 12.4 million units. Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung’s strongest player in the flagship series, entered the list from the sixth place with 9.6 million. Omdia’s predictions about the sector are as follows;
The global smartphone market is registering negative growth due to the contraction of the mid- and low-end market due to the economic recession and the expansion of the second-hand smartphone market. On the other hand, the premium smartphone market is growing steadily as replacement demand for Apple’s premium models remains strong.
According to Omdia’s forecasts, the number of best-selling smartphone will continue to decline. However, this is not the case for flagship phones. The report says that sales of flagship phones will increase. This means that the gap between the upper and lower segments will widen.
