The big-budget Netflix production received heavy criticism!

Ana sayfa / News

Launched as Netflix’s biggest budget film to date, Virtual Land has been heavily criticized by critics. Directed by the Russo Brothers, known for their Avengers films, this science fiction production had been one of the projects Netflix had high hopes for with its massive budget of exactly 320 million dollars. However, initial reviews show that the ambitious project fell far short of expectations.

Currently only receiving a 23% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a low score of 30 on Metacritic, Virtual Land has been described by critics as “soulless” and “unexciting.” Although these negative reviews show that the film was at a major disadvantage before its release, it is known that low critic scores on digital platforms do not always directly affect audience interest. Previously, productions that received poor reviews from critics, such as Red Notice and 6 Underground, achieved high viewing figures on Netflix.

Virtual Land is adapted from the work of the same name by Swedish artist Simon Stalenhag, known for his retro-futuristic designs. The story, set in an alternate reality, follows a young woman who embarks on an adventurous journey to the American West to find her younger brother in a world where strangely designed robots live alongside humans. She is accompanied on her journey by a loyal robot friend.
