HBO continues to take important steps for the Harry Potter series. Some names have been announced for the adaptation series, which was officially announced in the past months. Accordingly, agreements were reached for the producer and director of the series. So when will the Harry Potter series be released?
Director found for Harry Potter series
HBO has announced that Francesca Gardiner will serve as showrunner and executive producer on the series. Mark Mylod has signed on to direct multiple episodes and executive produce. Gardiner was one of the names mentioned earlier this year in HBO’s search for a showrunner.
Francesca Gardiner has previously executive produced series such as Succession, Killing Eve and His Dark Materials. Accordingly, she has been tasked with developing a season-long story for each of the Harry Potter books.
Mylod has directed HBO projects such as Game of Thrones, Succession and Entertainment Weekly. He is also currently in the director’s chair on HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us.
With Gardiner and Mylod set to direct the series, casting is expected to begin shortly. It should be noted that the trio of the movie adaptation (Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) will not be in the series.
The production, which will be adapted from the book series, will air on Max in 2026. CEO David Zaslav said they are excited to bring the beloved wizarding world to the digital world.
