Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO for short), the version of Counter-Strike with 10 years of history, has been on the agenda for 1-2 weeks with the news of switching to the Source 2 game engine.
Counter-Strike 2 is planned for summer 2023
Valve, which has just ended all the curiosity on this side, came out directly with Counter-Strike 2 (CS2). If nothing goes wrong CS2, which will start limited testing today, will be fully released in the summer of 2023. It will also replace CS:GO as a free game. The new game, built on the Source 2 game engine, opens the door to different possibilities thanks to its modern infrastructure. It brings very, very serious visual improvements. The production, which is also developed in terms of sound and interface, will offer players a lag-free war experience.
Counter-Strike 2 is the game with the biggest technical improvements in Counter-Strike history. Let’s talk a bit about the new improvements announced in the game. Smoke grenades are now dynamic volumetric objects that interact with their surroundings, reacting to light, gunfire and explosions. This means that fog can now spread from doorways and staircases. The fog can now be cleared by bullets and explosive grenades.
Also, tick rate is no longer important for moving, shooting or throwing grenades. Sub-tick updates are the most important change in Counter-Strike 2. Thanks to Counter-Strike 2’s updated sub-frequency architecture, servers now know exactly when a move is initiated, a shot is fired or a grenade is thrown. As a result, no matter what the tick rate is, your movements and shots will react at the same speed and your grenades will always land the same way.
Maps have also been updated or recreated. The OVERPASS map is an example of a completely overhauled map. NUKE is among the upgraded maps. DUST II, which almost everyone has a history with, is among the maps that have been improved but basically remain the same. Audio, visibility during gameplay, ambient effects, weapon models, interface and more have been improved.
