The gaming world has been buzzing for a while now with talk surrounding EA Sports, which parted ways with FIFA and will continue under the name EA FC, releasing EA FC 25. There are also rumors about a potential rival, 2K, developing FIFA 2K25. In a recent statement, the EA Sports FC 25 team sent a clear message to their potential competitors.
EA FC 25 Creators: “We Don’t Back Down from Competition!”
Andreas Wilsdorf, Career Mode Line Producer at EA Sports, addressed the situation in a statement, saying, “It’s still just a rumor, but even if it’s true, we won’t shy away from competition. I think competition is always interesting. It’s always fascinating to see how other people approach the sport,” openly challenging 2K.
Wilsdorf emphasized how difficult it is to create a football game, saying, “It’ll be interesting to see how they challenge us, but again, we’re open to competition,” signaling that EA isn’t ready to give up its long-standing leadership position in the industry.
Alex Constantinescu, another member of the development team, echoed this sentiment, admitting they missed the competition that Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) once provided.
Constantinescu recalled, “A few years ago when we added press conferences to the game, I think it was no coincidence that PES did the same. I remember seeing their announcement and thinking, ‘Okay, this is interesting. Now I really need to step up my game and work more on the content,’” noting that competition would push them to greater heights.
That said, it’s worth honestly pointing out that FIFA 2K25 is not officially confirmed. As the football gaming season approaches, there has been no formal announcement from 2K. Even if such a game is in the works, we might have to wait until the fall of 2025.
