Microsoft is preparing to add a new version to its Xbox console. A new all-digital version of the Xbox Series X is coming. This console, which will not include a Blu-ray disc bay, is expected to be cheaper than the standard model.
Xbox Series X digital version coming this summer?
Microsoft may launch a new all-digital version of the Xbox Series X console in June or July this year. According to rumors, the most striking thing about this console is that it will feature a white exterior design instead of the standard black color.
The all-digital Series X, dubbed “Project Brooklin” during its development, is rumored to receive a number of design changes. Previous leaks showed that it will have a cylindrical structure. The revamped model aims for a 15 percent reduction in power usage and offers a low-power standby mode.
It is also rumored that Microsoft will include a 2TB storage option and a USB Type-C port on the front. An increase in storage can actually be expected. Since it will be completely digital, it seems likely that users will archive games.
However, the most interesting thing for gamers will be the price. Allegedly, the all-digital Series X will be offered at a lower price compared to the $499 standard console. It is thought that Microsoft could sell it for $50 to $100 less without a Blu-ray disk drive.
Although there are important details about the console, Microsoft has not made any announcement. On the other hand, Xbox President Phil Spencer said that Microsoft has no intention of abandoning physical content.
