The Doom series, which has left its mark on the gaming world with its action-packed story, may be returning with a new production. According to information leaked by industry experts, ID Software is developing a game called Doom: The Dark Ages.
Doom: The Dark Ages may be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase
New details about the next game in the Doom series have emerged. Developed at ID Software under the code name Year Zero, the game is said to be a four-year project. The leaks revealed that the game will be called Doom: The Dark Ages and will be set in the Middle Ages.
It seems interesting that the game is set in the Middle Ages. This claim marks a radical change for the series, which has so far been set in a futuristic sci-fi universe. Accordingly, Dark Ages will focus on Doomslayer’s life during the Middle Ages.
Rumors of a medieval-themed Doom game first surfaced in 2021. This game was said to feature a Doom world inspired by the Middle Ages. The latest leaks indicate that ID Software has completed the development phase.
On the other hand, Bethesda recently registered the trademark “IDKFA”, a cheat code for Doom. This means an announcement could be coming soon. The new game is likely to be unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th.
The action series has been a huge success for both Xbox and ID Software. Even the last game, Eternal, was said to have made more than 450 million dollars at launch. Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
