The end of Google Assistant is coming with Gemini!

Ana sayfa / News

Two years ago, Google officially unveiled Gemini, its latest-generation AI-powered digital assistant. Initially available on new Galaxy devices, Gemini later came to older Galaxy phones, tablets, and smartwatches. However, Gemini hasn’t yet fully replaced Google Assistant. This is expected to change soon.

Google has previously stated that it would gradually phase out Google Assistant across Android and ChromeOS, and has been making strides in this direction for the past few years. A change was detected in the latest version of the Google app (v16.46.61) that replaces the Google Assistant branding with Gemini. This change was particularly noticeable during the “Hey Google” setup process.

Similar branding changes were also seen in the “Hey Google and Voice Match” feature within the Gemini app. Similar changes were also noticed in the app’s Settings section. The “Hey Google and Voice Match” section in the Settings menu has been changed to “Talk to Gemini Hands-Free.” The report claims that the Google Assistant brand will disappear completely after March 2026.

Samsung replaced Google Assistant on Galaxy phones and tablets with Gemini with the One UI 7.0 update. It’s not yet clear what will happen to devices running One UI 6.1.1 or older software that won’t receive the One UI 7.0 update, but it’s estimated that these devices will likely get Gemini via an app update.
