X, the platform account (user) blocking feature has now changed. It was previously revealed in mid-October that this change would occur. But how does the X account blocking feature now work? Will blocked profiles really be able to view your account from now on?
New account blocking feature activated for X
Account (user) blocking feature on social media platforms has been in our lives for a long time. Basically, when a user is blocked, they lose the right to view the current profile and see their posts. The feature on every social media platform has been partially removed on the X platform.
Accordingly, the X user blocking feature will now only restrict interaction. If your account on the X platform is not a hidden, that is, a locked account, the profiles you block will be able to see your posts. However, this account will not be able to interact with your posts because you blocked it.
Again, these accounts do not have the ability to send DMs to the user, tag them in photos, send follow requests and add them to lists. X, when your account is protected, the users you blocked are not likely to see your posts. Currently, the posts of already protected accounts can only be seen by their followers.
X, information about the new account blocking feature in the help centre is listed as follows:
- If your posts are set to public, the accounts you block can see your posts. However, they cannot interact with your posts (like, reply, repost, etc.).
- Accounts you blocked cannot follow you, and you cannot follow an account you blocked.
- Blocking an account you are following will cause you to unfollow that account (and it will unfollow you). If you decide to unblock the account you blocked, you will need to follow that account again.
- If your posts are set to protected, blocked accounts will not be able to see your posts, as they will only be shown to your followers.
- Blocked accounts will not receive a notification that they have been blocked. However, if the blocked account visits the profile of an account that blocked them, they will see that they have been blocked (this is not similar to the mute function, as muted accounts will not see that they have been muted).
- You will not receive notifications from accounts you have blocked, or from accounts that mention you in chats started by accounts you have blocked but do not follow. However, you will see notifications from accounts that mention you in conversations started by an account you have blocked and that you also follow. If you want to view all your mentions, you can search for your username.
X, how did you find the change made regarding the account blocking feature? Do you think it makes sense for an account you blocked to see your posts and posts?
