Google has released the first developer preview (DP1) of Android 16. The new version of the system can be downloaded and installed on Pixel phones by those who want to optimise their applications for the major update that will be released on the stable channel in 2025. Here are the details

In releasing Android 16 DP1, Google confirmed that the second developer preview will be released in December 2024, while the beta will be released to everyone in January 2025. The table below details the full release schedule, including the four planned beta releases and the release of the stable version in the second quarter.

This table means that the AOSP version of Android, which is the basis for manufacturers to customise the system, should be released on 30 June . However, the Android Headlines team stresses that reliable sources have confirmed that the final version of Android 16 will be released on 3 June .
