Google introduced the highly anticipated Android 14 at its Made by Google event on October 4. The new version, featuring a plethora of standout features, was initially rolled out for compatible Pixel models.
The first phone to receive Android 14 after the Google Pixel
While other smartphone manufacturers have begun their update efforts, the Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G recently became the first non-Pixel device to receive the new version, showcasing Tecno’s swift response since its release in May of this year.
Recall that last year, after Google Pixels, the first devices to adopt Android 13 were from OPPO’s Find X5 series. It seems that, once again, a Chinese manufacturer has taken the lead, underscoring the healthy competition in the industry and emphasizing the primary focus on a seamless user experience.
Some key features introduced with Android 14 include:
- AI-generated wallpapers.
- Ultra HDR image format support.
- Custom lock screen widgets.
- Ability to use supported devices as a webcam.
- Enhanced and more comprehensive app permission controls.
- Advanced PIN features.
- Font sizes can be increased by up to 200%.
- Introduction of the Health Connect application.
- Notifications can now be synchronized with the camera or screen flashes.
