Tesla delivered Model Y Juniper models ahead of schedule!
Tesla has announced some changes to the design, aerodynamics and interior for the new Model Y Juniper. However, there is no upgrade in the powertrain. Among the most striking changes are the following:
- Approximately 5% more range (this increase is achieved through power efficiency optimisations, not an increase in battery capacity).
- Maximum 250 kW charging support continues, but no switch to Tesla’s new 48V low-voltage electrical system.
Lars Moravy, one of Tesla’s chief engineers, stated that these changes were made to ensure that the Model Y remains affordable. However, it is also stated that more upgrades may come as production costs decrease. On the other hand, Tesla offered the Model Y RWD version for sale in China for $ 36,310. Until 28 February, the special version with extended warranty called ‘Launch Series’ will remain on sale. In Europe:
- The most affordable Model Y Juniper RWD version is 44,990 euros.
- The longest range Model Y (386 miles – 620 km according to WLTP) is 49,990 euros.
