In a long-awaited move, Apple has radically overhauled the front camera on its iPhone models. The new Center Stage feature and 18MP resolution, introduced with the iPhone 17 series, completely transforms users’ selfie and video experience.
iPhone 17 Brings Center Stage
The front camera resolution, which has been 12MP since the iPhone 11, has been increased to 18MP with the iPhone 17 series. Apple uses a square sensor instead of the traditional 4:3 sensor in this series.
This sensor offers greater flexibility in the camera experience and brings the new Center Stage feature to the front camera. This feature automatically keeps you in the center of the frame even if you move during FaceTime, Zoom, or live broadcast calls.
Another significant innovation is that you no longer need to turn the phone sideways to take a landscape selfie. The new AI-powered sensor automatically resizes the captured image and offers various options, including 4:3 vertical, 16:9 horizontal, or square formats.
The iPhone 17 series also offers the ability to record video simultaneously with the front and rear cameras thanks to the Dual Shot feature. This feature is particularly useful for professional vloggers. The new front camera also allows for 4K HDR, ultra-stabilized video recording.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 series begin at 3:00 PM on Friday, September 12th. The devices go on sale in many countries, including Turkey, on Friday, September 19th. What are your thoughts on this? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
