MediaTek has surpassed Qualcomm in the smartphone processor industry

According to Counterpoint Research, a research firm that determines industry leaders through its studies, the latest data regarding smartphone processors has been shared. Based on this data, MediaTek has emerged as the dominant player in the smartphone processor market in the first quarter of 2023. Despite experiencing a decline compared to the previous quarter, MediaTek managed to secure the top position with a 31% market share.

Additionally, there are some predictions for MediaTek’s performance in the second quarter of 2023. It is anticipated that the company will witness a decrease of over 5% in LTE processor shipments, while 5G processor shipments are expected to see growth of less than 5%.

Consequently, experts anticipate that Qualcomm’s market share will remain stable in the second quarter of 2023.

Apple ranks third with a 26% market share, closely behind Qualcomm. Samsung experienced a slight increase in the first quarter due to the release of processors catering to both high-end and entry-level market segments. Huawei’s Hisilicon, on the other hand, has a market share of less than 1% on the list.
