The highly anticipated Starfield 60fps update is finally coming for Xbox users. Previously, Xbox players could only play the game at 30 frames per second (fps), but with an update coming on May 15th, they will now have the option to play at 60fps.

Bethesda is also introducing several new screen customization settings for Xbox Series X users to run the game at 60fps. Players can now choose to prioritize visuals by selecting the option to “maintain the highest resolution while keeping special effects, lighting, and crowd details fully detailed,” or prioritize frame rate performance by selecting the option to “reduce internal resolution and special effects, lighting, and crowd details.”
Bethesda recommends selecting the performance mode when running the game at 60fps and above. If you have a display with variable refresh rate (VRR), you can smoothly run Starfield at higher frame rates when operating at 120Hz. With a VRR display, you can choose from 30, 40, 60, or unlimited frame rate modes.
The only downside is that you may experience occasional screen tearing and limited customization options for your screen. Along with the May 15th update, new in-game options are also coming to make exploring your surroundings easier, such as more detailed surface maps, new ship customization tools, and access to your ship’s cargo from the player inventory menu. The update is currently available on Steam as a beta.
Bethesda plans to add a major ‘Shattered Space’ expansion, a new ground vehicle, and official mod support for Starfield in the future. We’ll learn more about Bethesda’s plans for Starfield at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9th.
Ultimately, Starfield is gearing up to offer a smoother and more customizable experience on the Xbox platform. It’s exciting for Starfield fans to see the game becoming richer and more developed with each update. What are your thoughts on this improvement?
